The Classic 5000 is a reverse raffle in which all entry tickets start out in the tumbler. One by one, the tickets are removed/eliminated and placed in a secondary prize tumbler. Once we get down to the end, the last ticket remaining will win 50% of the money raised, up to $5,000, Woo Hoo!! Those tickets pulled out earlier which will be put into the secondary tumbler have another chance to win secondary prizes which will be valued at a minimum of $100 each. These may be combination of prizes and gift cards.

In addition to the Reverse Raffle, we will have the customary Table of Cheer which is a full table of adult beverages for 1-2 winners. Last year, we collected over $600 worth of beverages and ended up with two winners splitting the prize. Also, we will be having a 50/50 side raffle, Heads or Tails, Gift Card Tree, a couple silent auction items and at least one larger prize being raffled off. Watch for more details.

Tickets for the Reverse Raffle are $100 each, you may purchase more than one if you want to improve your odds of winning. If you are attending dinner, the meal is $50 per person. Also, if you want to sponsor a Table of 10, which includes 10 raffle tickets and 10 meals, you’ll save some dollars with the $1,300 fee.

The Rotary Club of River Cities, serving Mount Prospect, Des Plaines and Prospect Heights, provides new winter coats for children in the local communities through the Operation Warm program.  The goal is to provide only brand-new coats to local children in need. Instead of collecting used coats like a traditional coat drive, high-quality, brand-new coats are distributed to help kids feel confident and valued.

Traditionally the social workers at the Village of Mount Prospect and Prospect Heights School District 23 share the needs with the Club who in turn raise the funds to purchase the coats and assist with their distribution. This Club, initially serving Mount Prospect and Prospect Heights merged with the Rotary Club of Des Plaines and, therefore, added Des Plaines School District 62 to its Operation Warm project. While the number of children in need of coats has increased, adding a third community has amplified the need for donations this year.

The Club has raised funds and applied for grants to purchase coats, approximately $25 per coat through Operation Warm. The Club’s target is to distribute at least 300 new coats this year but there is a need for additional funding to purchase at least 60 more coats by December 1st to meet this year’s goal.  Every dollar donated directly to Rotary Club of River Cities goes directly to purchasing a new coat.  If you would like to contribute you can do so by using this link  https://www.paypal.com/donate/?hosted_button_id=6EY7N6S4GCKLW   Checks are payable to Rotary Club of River Cities and may be delivered to Alex Todd, Club Treasurer, at the Prospect Heights Library, 12 Elm Street in Prospect Heights.

Operation Warm coats help raise the self-esteem and peer acceptance of children struggling in poverty. Every child deserves a new, warm coat no matter their economic background.
The Hygiene Drive secures much-needed hygienic items for individuals that are experiencing homelessness and Mount Prospect families who access the Mount Prospect Human Services food pantry. The focus of this hygiene drive is to collect small, travel-size items and create hygiene kits that can be easily distributed through the Community Connections Center, local food pantry and the Mount Prospect Police Department.
