Meeting August 18, 2014

Chris Schoenherr was our speaker again today. Chris visited us back in March to talk about the Prospect Heights Public Library’s 3D printer. Today, Chris talked about two services designed for patrons on the go.
Hoopla is a streaming service that allows patrons to stream and/or download movies, television shows, music CDs, or audiobooks. The interface is relatively simple to use – you select the format you wish, browse through their list of titles and tap the title you want to check out. How long you get to keep a title depends on the format. The titles are always available, so you never have to worry about waiting in a hold queue if the title you want is already checked out. Zinio is an e-magazine resource that lets patrons download full digital copies of newsstand and e-only magazines. The Library subscribes to twenty six titles including Chicago, Newsweek, O, The Oprah Magazine, and Cosmopolitan. This is a great option to store up some vacation reading!
